Through analyzing the generic codes and conventions of three separate, successful horror movie websites, I have established a clear idea of what is needed to create one of a similar high standard. I am now aware of the typical visual aspects such as the prominence of the colours black, white and red due to their dark, supernatural, and violent connotations. The importance of an audio element was crucial in my analysis, due to the haunting atmosphere it created and how it linked to sound effects in the trailer. Finally it showed me how a website can portray information about the film in an interactive way, unlike a poster can. Whether this is through a slideshow or an animation, it is crucial to keep the target audience enticed.
